Spring!!!

Is anybody else getting giddy about it getting warmer out. I unpacked my summer shoes this past week...flip flops..."Jesus" sandals (thats what I call them at least)...and even some shorts. Feels oh so good. I even had my window open while I was washing up in the kitchen.

The little one is even enjoying this awesome weather. This is his first Spring where he can actually play outside. He was 4 months old at this time last year...so he wasn't much fun to take outdoors. I'm finding out that he is definitely an outdoorsy baby. He even enjoys playing golf with Army Man.

Army man was not so thrilled that Tatum took such an interest in golf...(or maybe just the golf ball)

Either was it was a nice change from being cooped up in the house all day.

It also got me thinking about Easter. We usually go up to see our family for Easter but we've decided to stay home and make our own tradition this year. I'm not yet sure what we'll have planned for that day yet. We (and by we I mean me)...already have our matching Easter outfits ready for church...and I'm sure there will be easter egg hunting. As far as Easter lunch/dinner plans I'm a little lost.

What plans do you guys have for Easter? Hope to see you back here soon!

Vacation

Army man finally had his post deployment leave!! We spent half of our time in Indiana (where we're both orignially from) visiting friends and family. It was nice being back around the people we love but finally getting back home was very nice...from Indiana we came home..spent 2 days doing laundry and packing back up to head to Gatlinburg, Tn. We rented an AWE-some cabin and had some much needed down time.

We tried to hit all the major places. (ie Aquarium, Ripley Museum, Rocky Mountin CANDY MAKERS..heck yes)
But we also spent alot of time lounging around the cabin being Laaaayyy-zeee!! I even got Army Man to watch an old film with me! (George Washington Slept Here)

We also tried out some very yummy places to eat. My favorite was by far...Huck Finn's. I had there Catfish....aaaahhhhhh. it delicious. Gator tail was also on the menu..tasted pretty good.

After visiting family...traveling to Gatlinburg..stuffing our faces...it was so great to home. so thats where I've been. Hibernating at home. Enjoying my own bed. own toilet and own closet.

Hope to see you back here soon!

Sympathy Shopping

Have you every had one of those shopping trips where you stop to look at something because it is hideously ugly. I do...on a regular basis.

"why would anyone buy that poor thing"

this is where my good friend the owl comes in.

While shopping at Goodwill about a week ago with my husband I stumbled upon this poor mess

He has almost a scowl. I picture him belonging to an 70 year old lady, chain-smoker, who wore magenta moo-moos in his previous life. He didn't look like he was enjoying his stay at Goodwill....so for a $1.00 I took this little sucker home with me to "beautify" him.

I also picked up this handy dandy lovelies at Hobby Lobby...clearance aisle. Can I get a "WOOOO CLEARANCE"

I've had these for almost a year now. Something about the color I just don't like...so I decided to beautify them as well.

I've been going through a "clean" kick. I like things white..and have also jumped on the yellow bandwagon. I can spend hours upon hours glancing at rooms on Pinterest. I was never a fan of white before Pinterest. But I am now addicted. I decided that if I ever have another little one that I will do their nursery in white and yellow...who knows these items might find their home in a nursery in a year or two.

So after some loving up....and a fresh layer of paint...

we have the new and approved Ugly owl...and candle holders.

isn't he puuurty. No longer the scowl...

"I am Owl...hear me Whooo"

Have you every had a sympathy buy? Or just found something horrible ugly and "beautified" it? If not you should..a can of spray paint can do WONDERS. Hope to see you back here soon!

Silhouette Project

So I got a wild hair to be creative after surfing through Pinterest. I've been wanting to add some artwork to my son's room. There is one wall that is completely bare. So after a quick trip to a store I began...at 8pm.

after some cutting and such I got my final result.

For our bedroom (the two pictures above the lamps)

and for Tatum's room

I'm pretty happy with the end result. I'm still searching for more ideas of what to put on the wall with this picture. I want something original and fun! Thinking about pulling some quotes from some children's books (i.e.. Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh) Do you guys have any favorite quotes that you think would be fitting for a little boys room? Or have you attempted any Pinterest DIY crafts. Love that website!! Hope to see you back here soon!!

Sick Baby

The past few days have been very...interesting

My baby boy, Tatum, has been feeling under the weather. We went from this precious thing on Tuesday evening.....

.....to a vomiting, screaming, pathetic little man the next day.

We headed to the doctor and apparently this has been going around Fort Campbell for a few weeks. We got our probiotics to help his tummy and went back to laying on the couch. I was puked on a total of 4 times...and took me an hour in the shower to get the smell outta my hair. He was also cutting two molars...so we're still not outta the clear.

We did get to enjoy the amazingly sunny day yesterday (taking it slow of course for Tatum). It was in the mid 70s here. We broke out the grill and invited a couple over to enjoy burgers and play some Monopoly. Somehow my husband (who cheated I'm 95% sure) won the game..and I lost all my properties first. I blame lack of sleep and puke fumes for my complete lack of motivation to win.

Did you get to enjoy some gorgeous weather...or better yet...did you get to get puked on 4 times. you know you're jealous! Hope to see you back here soon!

Common Man

Here I Be

Ive been putting this off for sometime now. I’ve been creeping in the shadows, reading other peoples thoughts and feelings, waiting patiently until I would have the confidence to start my own. I’m still waiting for the confidence. So (slowly exhales)…lets begin. I’ve survived my 2nd round of deployment as an Army wife so with this accomplishment I thought that I’d dive into the blogging world. With this deployment there has been a lot going on with not only myself but also with my small family of 3. I’ve needed a type of release to get my feelings and thoughts written down and organized. Ever time I start a journal though it never seems to go anywhere. Either I’m annoyed by my own handwriting or end up losing said journal. So since handwriting isn’t an issue on blogger…and they have this nifty save button I thought I’d just have at it.
A little about myself is required I guess.  I’m a young army wife and am married to an amazing Infantry soldier who I will address as Army Man. Army Man, on this last deployment, decided that he was going to make a career out of the Army which in turn makes me a career Army wife…along with my son becoming an Army brat (and a cute one at that). Our little Army Brat, Tatum, is one year old  He was a post deployment baby, last deployment. We have chose not to make another post deployment baby. J He has given life to our house that we could not imagine our lives without. He is the happiest little noise box. I will most likely be posting several (okay probably hundreds) of pictures of him throughout this blog.  He’s momma’s camera hog. Okay so back to my husbands career choice. This decision, which at first I thought would be not such a big deal, has slowly got me thinking about what our life will now hold. If you are a military wife reading this you will know that military life can be very…tough. Its not only the fact of cleaning endless piles of ACU’s or those combat boots that I’m always stubbing my toes on. Deployments are always looming and even when those aren’t on your mind there are countless schools that he could be off and running too at any moment. Even though I am happy with our lives it would be nice to know the life of a normal married couple. Whats it feel like to not have chinooks flying over your house at all hours? Whats it feel like when your husband can call in sick? Or better yet, what does it feel like to know your husband won’t be leaving the country for a year? These are things I’ve thought about a lot since marrying my husband.
This blog will mostly be about my adventures of an army wife. The good, the bad, and the PCS’s. Oh Lawrd the PCS’s. We will be PCSing very soon…which I will be talking about next time. (insert bitter face and finger nail biting)
Besides being an Army wife and a mother, I enjoy cooking, taking pictures, and thift shopping. I’ll be sharing some of my favorite bloggers, recipes, and crafts throughout this blog. Along with ranting and raving about every day life. Hope to see you back here soon!
